Performing as Rosina in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia

This program will feature 14 songs; 10 of which feature the lyrics of Bertold Brecht, one that comes from Weill's time in France, and three from his Broadway years in 1940's New York. His most successful collaborations there were with Langston Hughes and Ira Gershwin, amoung others. Through his many Broadway successes and prodigious ability to draw from many styles, Weill is widely credited with giving creative rise to the efforts of Bernstein, Prince, and Sondheim.

Naturally there are many selections in German, for which translations are provided, as well as for the one French song. The remainder of the selections are in English. All songs will be performed with piano accompaniment, and interpreted in the spirit of intimate cabaret.
